1st page

Many People may not remember exactly what you did or said, but they will always remember how you made them feel. At fourteen she didn't know much, in fact, with each passing year she was a lot less clear about most things. But this much she knew. You could worry your self-sick trying to be a better person, spend a thousand sleepless nights figuring out a way to bring your parents to have one common goal, to have their children first above everything else in their lives. You could make a plan and bolt it in place, kneel by your by your bed every night and swear to God you'd stick to it. You could cut your thumb and squeeze it and pen solemn vows on a rock with your own blood then throw it in the sea at the stroke of midnight.
Only to find out of the black beyond, like an eagle on it's pray, some nameless catastrophe would swoop into your life and turn everything upside down and inside out forever.

Noura was an angel walking the same earth we do. Pure as a shining diamond, and tough as well. She had no one to teach her about the mistakes of life, and pitfalls most girls her age would fall into. Instead, she had to teach herself.
Her parents had separated when she was twelve years old. Her mother's constant nagging and blaming, lead Noura to believe it was her fault her parents were still separated. With her eight year-old brother, Noura lived in her father's house, which was, situated a mere block or two away from her beloved grandfather. It was he who tried to give this young woman a more pleasant view of life. Finding comfort in her grandfather, she slowly began to grasp the possibility of happiness in her life, only to find a couple of months after her fifteenth birthday, her grandfather had passed away.

The relationship between her parents is one that is not very simple to understand. Beyond her mother's nagging and blames, there was a loving woman who cared a great deal about her children. A woman left heartbroken without the ability to ever move on with her life. Like her mother, Noura's father was a gentle, loving man. However, the burn he left with his wife did nothing to help either of them, leaving his once-was wife with a bitter taste of life. Untill this day i cannot be sure what bothered her the most, the fact that he had their marrage end, or that he was able to move on with his life, when all she could ever want, was in that golden palace her children lived in. Noura's mother had tried to win her husband's heart once again, but he constantly kept rejecting her offers. She once sent him a gift on Eid, only to have it sent back to her. That in it had said a great deal: he would not accept it. Not that his pride stopped him from doing so, but were he to take her gift, he would have opened a path for emotional flashbacks. when loving gifts hadn't soften his heart for her, She had now no one to turn to but revenge. She tried to hurt him by using something very near to his heart. With ignorance, she had sent one of her children to fetch a private a governmental ID of his. He burned with anger when he found out, even though it caused no problems in public. But still, the ignorance of the mother towards her children was unforgivable. She shouldn't have used her child to revenge her self. But even though, he never forbade his children from seeing their mother.
